Multi-Media Installations

I have a deep faith in participatory public art and the power we collectively hold to not only to change the world, but to make our day to day lives richer- less lonely, more loving, healthy and whole.

In June 2015, on my way to Crossroads Juvenile Detention Facility I learned Kalief Browder committed suicide.  I knew Kalief’s story well. That day, l searched for a way to take care of myself so that I could greet the young women with kindness and a spaciousness of spirit, not grief and anger. I wrote, “Kalief- I’m sorry,” on a piece of paper, said a prayer and left it on a bench. When I returned, people had added their names and placed a dandelion. It was there my participatory public altar installations began to take root.
