Karla Robinson is a Black woman from the Bronx who relies on being able to see the beauty beneath the surface. She believes deeply in arts ability to transform culture and community. A poet, community-based artist, editor, trainer and special educator, she loves laughing, language and a heartfelt hug.

Karla is currently the Poetry Writer-in-Residence at Bronx Academy of Letters, Partnership Faculty at Sadie Nash Leadership Project and Lead Facilitator with the Teaching Artist Project. As an Innovative Cultural Advocacy Fellow Alumni with the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute she is dedicated to ensuring cultural equity for people of the African Diaspora across New York City.

She uses poetry to support people caught at the intersection of multiple state institutions and crafts environments with humanity and connection at the center. As an arts educator with a Special Education Teaching Credential, she brings 15 years of direct service, professional development and administrative experience in juvenile justice, community and school-based settings with people of all ages.
You can find Karla repping the Bronx, making all-natural bath and body products, and buying too many pairs of earrings.
